Greetings,

Im new to this modding community and i am seeking a bit of assistance. I have halo 3 beta map files. I've heard that its possible to extract models such as spartans and elites for rendering. I've looked all over the place to find out how to do this, but have not been able to find out how. I would like to know the process of doing this, and if weapons can also be extracted.

Best Regards,

-EJon

What would extracting models have to do with RSA?

The models have been extracted, but the tools are "private", so only a few have them. You can find some models online through some sites if you look hard enough.

Indeed, it's been done. But those who could help you probably won't.

You would have to make them yourself.

The map files do seem way to small to hold allll of that stuff

Tags are not assets. Assets are models, bitmaps, and sounds, generally speaking.

I don't know about official, but it's what we've always used in Halo modding terms.

Anything used by the engine is a game 'asset' (which are broken up into tags; for shipping builds these assets are cache and BLF files). Some tags use pageable 'resources' which are stored to be loaded on demand (compared to always loaded like tags are) to keep memory usage down. Storing the resources in cache pages is just an implementation detail of the tag system, they are still considered apart of the owner tag definition.
