noob question

Havent played halo in a while but got on today and noticed some wierd things happening. The wierdest being I walked up on a mongoose that had just respawned and it took off and ran me over "splattered" me, but noone was driving it, then it disapeared. Last time I checked I was told there is no way to glitch/cheat/mod halo 3 so, Have people figured out how to do this? I dont wanna know how to do it but if someone could bring me up to speed on what cheaters are capable of doing, if anything, i'm just curious. thanks in advance for answering or ignoring this post.

There are plenty of glitches in Halo 3. It was not a mod or hack because you cannot play modded maps online. It sounds more like lag to me.

I did check the video imediately after it happened and i am almost positive it wasnt a greanade because a guy walked past the mongose right before it took off and he didnt die. This took place under the wide open Big cave structure in isolation. I'm may be mistaken about the mongose spawning there the video actually shows the thing sitting back underneath the cave between the two bunker windows on either side of the cave a few moments before it reapeared (front facing the large exit to the cave) and took off. A guy walked past it back into the dead end oposite the bunker windows and it took off. splattered me (didnt say who splattered me) and finally came to rest at the edge of the map, then disapeared. I'm a skeptic by nature to so I understand anyones skepticism and it may have been lag i guess. If you all say it cant happen then I cant really argue. I just thought someone here might know of a way someone could pull this off. I remember joining a halo 2 game with some modders i used to play with and they were able to drop warthogs on people so i thought maybe the same kinda thing was happening here. The video has been overwriten since i played alot of halo last night so I guess It'll just have to remain a mytery.

Well, regardless of what it may have been, it wasn't modding.

I have said this many times, Halo 3 lags like a hot turd. So most likely it was lag. end of story.

Halo 3 as a piece of software does not lag.
In fact it has one of the most noteworthy netcodes available in a game.

What?, I find that hard to believe. I do say it syncs alot better than Halo 2 and it keeps all players looking like they were host with all of the effects, but then that causes player lag/weird things to happen just under normal gameplay.

There are more substantial issues with other games than with the minor issues Halo 3 has.

You're going to argue something that is an industry-agreed upon statement.
Well then...

Veegie is correct.
I don't remember if it was at GDC08 or something else, but Bungie were demonstrating their online model and stuff. And were saying to other Game companies; like feel free to use our model and stuff; and i do believe that EPIC introduced it into GEARS OF WAR 2

I was not going againt veegie, but it just lags like some shit. Thats a fact. I don't care about too much else about effects/how good it was made. Any little bit of lag throws Halo 3 off and it becomes unplayable.
Gears of War 2, Not too big of a problem there.
COD 4/5, I played on Dial Up and it played just fine.

How did you play COD on Dial Up? You need broadband for Xbox Live.

Veegie wasn't talking about their online "model" as it appears on the surface; he was speaking to the optimization of the game's netcode.

And that is where the confusion started. Thanks for clearing it up
