Is it possible in any shape or form, legal or illegal, to get the Halo 3 Beta and get it working on a modded xbox 360? I know you can't play anything on it (i.e matchmaking, customs) but if it is possible can you be able to edit the source or something to have customs enabled? Thanks. ~iTz

I dont understand this "Unsigned Code" stuff. Cant the unsigned code be run with a modded xbox? Please explain because I don't want to look like a noob and bump a two month old topic.

No.

Unsigned code means to able to run things without having to resign them.

There's no way to run unsigned code on a 360 yet.

All xexs are signed by Microsoft, and when they're changed they need to be resigned in order to run. Nobody knows their key to sign the xex so we can't resign them. The only way we would be able to run modded code would be to make it possible to run code that wasn't signed by microsoft(referred to as unsigned code). This has not really happened yet, although I guess you can get Linux working.

To elaborate(I suppose), you can just modify your .xex to disable all internal executable checks, then let a devkit run the .xex that was converted accordingly.

Yes and once we get custom firmware it will ignore the .xex check or make it so a retail unit can run a .xex resigned with the dev kit keypair

Yeah that wouldn't make any sense.

Ok, then Veegie I guess modding on a retail unit will never happen, because the .xex has to be resigned with the retail key or dev key, so I guess no H3 ignoring checksums even after CFW...Cough
