Custom Gametype/maps and New maps on December 11th

Is it currently possible to rip custom gametypes/maps using the XSATA? If so could someone please tell me where the location of the files are? And if this devlopment of the XSATA has been reached, do you think we will be able to mod the new maps coming out via XSATA like we could in Halo 2?

it could possibly help us with the figuring out the resigning process, well for those of us that do not have access to such privileged information yet.

The maps will be in-cased in a LIVE container file, which like the PIRS and CON containers, have a hash attached. So even though it will be significantly easier to get the maps from the HDD to your computer, opposed to from the disc to your computer, it does not mean we will be able to play them modified. It would be harder to do so.

prey know any place where I can learn how to dycrpt hashes, or should I just keep looking through like every 4 bytes, even then i dont know if it has any significants.

i just hope they will be able to figure out cause i want to be able to get into halo 3 modding even if it is only on new maps for a while. :P i wonder what kind of things ill be able to find for everyone once it takes off.

Well I am personly tired of waiting, and watching every one else have fun. I relly want to start helping cus I can programe some what, and I know how to read hex. What I dont know is how to tell if something is a hash, or a crc, I want to learn how to find them and mostly what they do. I know that when the maps come out im gunna have a real good look at these files.

They're not any more special, technically, than the other maps available right now...

well kinda cus I dont have to mod my 360, well mabey not we will have to find out. But I would love to be able to mod H3 with out modding my 360.

But from what i understand if im correct it that no one except anthony knows how to resign the container files, and the maps.

what about LIVE files, is it possible to inject files back, if so can i sign them too?

Well, only a select few can resign LIVE/PIRS/CON files and even a smaller amount know how.

Unless we have covert spy working for us here at halomods I don't think getting the hash cracked will be possible anytime soon. I think we have better chances with the disk maps. And even if the LIVE container file was cracked you wouldn't be limited to new maps because you could just replace them with the old maps from the disk, see what I am saying. Oh well I'm sure when a custom kernal comes out for the xbox360 we can mod halo 3 untill then...
