No TDATA modding allowed?

Post by antomic »

By Tural:

Rules for the Halo 3 Downloads board:

* As always, universal rules apply here.
* No Live modding, TDATA modding, or cheating discussion or files, at all.
* No full maps. Any modifications must be posted in patch form.
* This is not a questions board. Go here to ask modding questions.
* Applications and tools should be posted here, this board is for mods.

i'm just wondering, when you say, no TDATA modding, are you saying that we are not allowed to mod downloadable maps in the TDATA folder once they are released? That's prbably not what you meant, but if that is what you are implying, then it is the most retarded rule ever. if not, then no biggy :)

Of course we're not going to allow it...for the very same reasons we did not allow people to mod maps in Halo 2's TDATA folder.

It's not a retarded rule, it was created to prevent any sort of accidental assistance to Xbox Live modders.

.....I find that extremely insolent. How can halomods prematurely assume that they (modders) are going to fuck up XBL...
.......not cool :?
besides you don't even get banned for modding in h2 xbl anymore anyway...
another thing....how are we supposed to make mods if we're not allowed to pull maps off the TDATA folder....not a good rule in my opinion.
EDIT: Nevermind....I'll be quite now in case something bad happens. i don't mean to insult anyone, but i just think you guys have some really stupid rules.

Better safe than sorry. It doesn't matter if you get banned or not, it's against the Xbox Live Terms of Use agreement.

Infact:
3. HOW AND WHEN YOU MAY USE THE SERVICE
We provide the Service for your personal use. You may not use the Service for commercial purposes or in a way that is against the law. You also may not use it in a way that harms us or our affiliates, resellers, distributors, service providers, partners and/or suppliers (collectively, the "Microsoft Parties"), or any customer of a Microsoft Party. Some examples of harmful activity that we do not permit include: (i) trying to gain access to any account, computers, hardware or networks related to this Service without authorization; (ii) disrupting accounts, computers, hardware or networks related to the Service; (iii) obtaining or trying to obtain any data through any means from the Service, except if we intend to provide or make it available to you; (iv) using the Service or related hardware to obtain any data to design, develop or update unauthorized software that you use or provide to others to access or use in connection with the Service; (v) charging others to use the Service either directly or indirectly; (vi) using or distributing unauthorized cheats, macros or scripts; (vii) exploiting any bug, or making unauthorized modifications to any software or data, in the Service or particular game to gain unfair advantage in a game.
If you want to mod the TDATA maps, add them to your main menu. For now...there are no TDATA maps, or modding of any sort really...so it's not an issue.

Just to be clear...you can mod TDATA maps (i.e. Containment, Terminal, whatever)...we just don't allow people to use the software which allows people to play them from the TDATA folder.

Also, you still get banned. They aren't going to stop banning people because halo 3 came out...

ok ya that does make sense, but in the last line when you say you can't use software which allows people to play data from the TDATA folder, wouldn't all the halo 2 map resigners be against the forum policies? yet they are freely available....

@ guy on top. I made a 1 month free trial, made fun mods in custom games, signed out, put fresh maps on my 360 hard drive, and i could play mm as normal....I never got banned.

Maps in the TDATA folder require a special signature that regular Halo 2 map resigners (what you see on this site) do not create. Therefore, they won't help you mod those maps.

Well, you just got yourself banned on this site. We do not tolerate Live modders. Enjoy.
