I have a question: How did we get the decription codes in the first place? (for halo 2).

First of all, there is nothing encrypted in Halo 2 to be decrypted with said codes. Halo 2 maps only have a simple CRC32 checksum which wasn't even put in place to stop modders, it was there to check if the cache file was copied to the cache correctly. And I assume Iron_Forge found that out by trying some stuff or reverse engineering the Halo 2 XBE.

CRC = Cyclic Redundancy Check...the name says it all. With Reverse Engineering you can take a look at the hash procedure and go backwards.

How do you make crates, weaps, etc invisible like Ive seen in a few mods

They weren't made invisible, as it is impossible in Forge mods.
Those are completely different objects.

quick question, would it be possible to switch the flamethrower with a machine gun turret on a stand so the flamethrower then is on the stand and has infinite ammo. of course the only reason i ask is the flamethrower is a turret

No.

The machine gun turret is a complete weapon itself.

How is the Atlantis mod done?
Is it just the sky object in scen?

Yep. The Scen of the Sky contains a fake kind of water layer, if you spawn one at the right coordinates, it'll look like you have a higher level of water.

Only problem is it looks so unbelievably fake. >_>..

You need to place it VERY high above the map for it to show. Most maps like guardian just have more fog. But if you were to edit Contruct then it will be extremely noticeable.

I have a couple of questions:

In my heroic map container, there is Armoy.map and Armory2.map. Which one is the real Rat's Nest and why?

The file names for containers are like usermap000000000000001ABFlots-of-hex-etc Do those digits have any meaning, or can you just rename the file without ruining everything?

Armory.map is the actual Rats nest. One thing I know is different between armory.map and armory2.map is the flashing lights in one of the halls.

After the "usermap" is probably a time stamp, I don't know for sure.

This pertains to usermap modding:

What types of security measures should we take when uploading our maps here to avoid being banned or exposing our information to the big MS?

Can MS get your keypair from any CON file you upload? If so, how would you go about masking this?

Obviously resigning your file with 0's for your Profile and Device IDs is a good idea before uploading, but what else can be done?

You don't need to do any of that. There is no way they would ban you for uploading a save. Also your Profile and Device ID's cant affect anything.

q:
on a usermap theres no type of object x so i pop open engineer or johnson and find the tag index ident. Now can i put in the ident (using big enidan) and the run time min/max, allowed, placed on map, total cost into the index to place the object on the map, or should it already be in the index?
