Well cant you replace a AA Wraith turret with the Wraith turret but then you would actually have to edit the .map file..... damit

But I still need this question answered

I have replaced the identifiers and everything but I am slightly confused do you resign the usermap. What would you do after switching the identifiers pretending we had the right programs at the moment?

Resign the RSA and SHA-1 encryption. Then resign the CON file...nothing you can do or 99.9% of the community

The usermap is inside of a CON file, which is essentially just a header added on top of the usermap file.

I thought that the file or package the .map file comes with is what we have been trying to get a resigner for so we can edit the .map file and reinject into the file or package then resign this file or package or are we trying to do that too?

no you can edit the file form the CON and then rehash so it shows up, then resign the CON so you can play it.

What.

Map files are not in a "package" or anything like that. We cannot resign maps because they are signed with a private key that only Bungie has access to. We need to run unsigned code on the 360 (Which devkits can do) to use a modified XEX, edited to bypass the map signature check.

Usermaps are inside of container files, specifically CON files. CON files can be resigned by a small group of people.

You know, it really helps if you tell people what you're talking about, rather than expecting them to magically read your mind. You're talking about the DLC, aren't you? Those are in a different container format (LIVE, I believe). There is no chance you will be resigning those at any point in the future. The only way to modify those will be through unsigned code and loading them through the mainmenu.

Ok so Bungie has a private code to run map files but you need to resign usermap files which are in con files which some people can do but maybe only one person int he public has successfully used that private code or a dev kit (youtube video with the swapping of the projectiles)

Wow, confusion. Ok there are 2 kinds of .map files so we need to be specific. The first are the retail halo 3 .maps which are found on the game disk. These cant be signed because only bungie has the private key to sign them. The second are usermaps, these are the one you create via forge. It is only a small file containing information about the changes you made in forge. These have no siganture, BUT they are nested in CON files. CON files have a RSA Hash too. Only a cuple people can sign these, but it is not impossible.

Nobody has used the private key to resign a map file. There are a bunch of people with devkits.

You really need to be more coherent. You use like, no punctuation or grammar in any of your posts.

Ok I understand now. Thank you everybody for explaining it to me. Sorry for not using the proper punctuation and grammar.
