Guess what's wrong with halomods now!

Is somebody flaming or causing problems? Is there a post that is too large for content? Moderators will check here often to discover problems quickly.

The moderaters pay for this site; they make up the rules then? fair enough to me.

To clarify two things, I wasn't saying I dislike Tural nor do I think he should be demoted (Every other moderator would see a heavily increased workload ;)...Tural is part machine sometimes)...I'm just uninterested in those kind of fights, or rather practically all fights that happen. I also think many arguements could be made shorter (both in post size, and post count)...afterwards it could be cleaned up to avoid clutter (yes one could argue [no not more please! ;p] that there is a point to the discussions there, but it is needlessly long and largely unwanted, at least by me)

Second, we (staff) don't pay for the site, there might be some that donate, I'm not really sure on the financial details of anything, but I'll go with the general consensus that Grenadiac still generously pays for the hosting even though he doesn't really even visit here anymore.

Ive never gone to a shop for instance and had a clerk say
"Hey your saying that wrong!" [example spelling or typing if you can understand what one is saying don't derail a topic by commenting on spelling]
or
"Hey i believe so and so about this you are wrong"
And to diffuse the thing about staff not being paid neither are a majority of charity shops yet they carry out the exact rules.
I personally don't have a grudge against Tural or any of the staff in particular on contrary to popular belief but i will defend my self where needed and it saddens me that more often than not its a staff member who instigates the argument as has been the trouble in the past.
Thats my two penny's worth.

Oh and "he is attacking me on the internet help!"
Hah good one not heard a joke so childish yet so amusing in my life threatening someone on the internet is like saying im going to kill you with a water pistol.

That was not the case here, so why are you acting as though that situation applies?

I read the posts in the SOTW a few days ago and noticed the argument. I also noticed that Tural was clearly defending himself from LSAH's posts. Yet, Tural seems to be the bad guy in this case as well. I'm still astounded by the amount of people that can bitch and complain about others on the internet. If you don't like them or what they do, remove yourself from the situation. It's simple, easy, and effective...

Alright, here's my two cents:

This isn't a professional site. I think that's the biggest thing people are ignoring. I, or really anybody at this site does not get paid to do what we do. It's purely a volunteer service. This is both a good thing and a bad thing. Number one, it means that the people that are actually in the positions aren't held as responsible as a paid worker would be. Before you whine about why that's wrong, let me tell you why it's right: Because there isn't anyone I trust more than the people that are currently Staff. I could put some nobody up that could probably do a better job, but I have no way in knowing exactly what their intentions are, and what they intend to do in the future. I expect people to screw up. If we got rid of everyone who had issues we really wouldn't have anyone to do the work.

So here, I'll ask this question: Danke, do you want to be part of the staff?
I'm not pretending to be all-knowing, but I'd guess his answer would be a No.
That's because Danke is, in a way, better than everyone else here. He's also worse, which makes him okay.

In reality, what he sees really isn't that rare. I see things that piss me off all the time, both here and with people at places where they actually get paid to work, but it seems they get paid more to fuck around for half their pay period. I'm happy with our staff.

JK-47 wrote:I really don't see a big deal in all this. Lt Slap a Ho was being a douche, Tural shut him up, topic back on track.
Wrong. Lt continued until I asked them both to stop (quoted below). That topic is what I'm basing a great deal of my post below on due to Tural's inability to shut Lt up correctly.
xXxCocoFangxXx wrote:It's their site, Moderators are the staff, they can do what they want.
Wrong again.
I wrote:I realize that Staff is no longer under my name, but can I step out of character for a moment and request that both of you (Lt and Tural) shut the hell up? Honestly, this is a forum. Lt should not have argued, but Tural, you know quite well that it should have been handled it in PM, and way too much force was implied. May I deem that conversation over?
Prologue (before the latter quote): I would just like to say how happy I am that I can now mock other members of the staff and not be a hypocrite, for I am no longer staff.

I on several occasions have recommended to various people that certain staff members be remove, as well as replaced by fresh new people. That list included most of the staff in fact. Though since then I've changed my position on the matter, and will now direct my post to the current matter at hand; Tural. Tural on many occasions can be probably be the meanest, coldest, rude, and general a-hole I know, but that doesn't mean I have anything against him. In fact, Tural is great fun, especially when someone doesn't piss him off. Danke made a good point that Tural, as a Staff member is a representative of HaloMods shouldn't be Staff due to his attitude and utter disregard for some general un-spoken courteous rules. For a moment I agreed, but then I read Kirk's take on the site being unprofessional and in that instant I applauded him. Kirk has summed up HaloMods in one word, and it fits so well. HaloMods is an internet Soup Kitchen. Obviously no Starbucks, and you occasionally get a mean soup-server (representing Tural in this analogy), but once you have your fairly decent soup, you go to your tables (topics/forums) and talk with your friends.

Lt made the mistake of arguing with an already loose cannon (most likely to try his ground to see if he can take him on), but let's face it, no matter how wrong the lunch lady is, while she's holding that spoon, she's right (unless the Kitchen manager sees her acting up, but that takes the issue to higher power). Tural should not be demoted. Tural should do the job he volunteered for, read the rules in the Staff section that tell him how to handle every problem, and Tural should calm down. He really is very pleasant to have around when he doesn't take every minor poke at him, strip it down, and send the pieces back in the poker's eyes. i.e. Lt argues with Tural then proceeds to PM Lt alerting him to the rule he broke (in this case, attacking a staff member, as well as flaming), then includes a warning (or RC depending on how serious the problem was), cleans the topic, and all is well. No personal confrontation, fixes the problem, and it keeps the Kitchen head happy.

By the way, <3 Tural & Danke.

No he didn't. As far as I know, no one aside from the former Arbiters/Guardians "volunteered" to become Staff. We were chosen randomly because we reported a lot and such.

No decision is "random". As a matter of fact, I recommended Tural, You, and Veegie many time a while back near when you were chosen. I'm not sure what your case was (as far as being alerted goes), but most people are at least asked, or show interest in the job before they receive it.

We weren't asked, we weren't hinted at, we didn't know anything about it until 5 minutes before we were promoted. If it wasn't for another staff member, we wouldn't have known even that early, we would have found out when it happened. It was done entirely without our input or knowledge.

Indeed, and that was only because a member of the Staff randomly IMed us. Even Staff members who have been added after us...I had no idea they would be promoted. They just were one day. We had no Staff Forum discussion or anything, just promoted and that's that I guess. :|

That doesn't really change anything. You could have declined. You volunteered by accepting the job and sticking with it. Leaving the staff is as simple as going to groups, hit Staff link, and remove yourself from the group. You chose not to and remain staff. Therefore, you volunteered by remaining.

Edit: And it's no secret that members with connections can gain power.

As long as someone knows how to silence people like that, I don't care how they do it, I don't care if Tural hurt slap a hoe's feelings. I'm just glad we have staff that can get things back on track when things go wrong.
In short, I don't mind Tural being an ass sometimes, it's really no big deal, it's just who he is sometimes, and other times he can be pleasant. So long as he gets the job done, I'm not complaining.

Shout, he didn't listen to you any more than he listened to me. He insulted me in the post responding to yours. Apparently that part was forgotten. We only read where he says "I'm done," and not the part where he calls me an ass. We forget his insults, and forget my attempt to stop it. How is your attempt any more valid than mine? You told us to shut the hell up. I willingly said that I would stop and he should too.

Preach it. Those are my exact thoughts. Sometimes if you don't be forceful, people don't take you as seriously.
