text signature problem

i tried to create a signature that was all text it followed the forum guidelines and didnt not go over 5 lines of text, i know this because the preview button works fine. when i go to submit my new signature however it says:
Signature: the value is too long.
now how can the rule say i can have 5 lines but the charcter limit prohibits this still?

I think the limit is three lines.

no it's three lines if you have an image. i do not have an image, just text
edit: well i wont have an image after i get this all sorted out

As far as I know, there's no rules topic right now, all the ones you see are from the User or Files forums, and are outdated.
The profile information may be misleading from what we decide on later.

Its just a few lines of text. I'll make sure to talk to I_F about this(if he doesn't already know). The best thing to do now is just have patience.

We're probably going to end up with a maximum 500x120 pixel image, and a maximum 3 lines of text. That is, only a 500x120 image even if you have no text, and 3 lines of text maximum even if you have no image.
But nothing is made certain yet.

As of RIGHT now the rules are 500x120 and a max of 3 lines regardless of whether or not you have an image, so go by that until the new rules are posted.
