Idea for the spam bots I noticed you guys are getting...

I noticed you have the good 'ol phamacy invasion around here and I'd like to suggest something as far as how to get rid of it. Change the file name of viewtopic.php to something else. This eliminates the spam bot's ability to post apparently. This has been done on several forums I frequent right now. I don't know if anything has been suggested or not about this but I thought I'd throw it out there.

not as easy as it sounds, if you change viewtopic filename, they have to go through every phpBB php/tpl file to change it and theres alot

The easiest way would be to add a mod for code activation when you register. However, it's not easy to do.

Okay, me being an idiot, I just clicked the link without looking at it. I know that's dumb, I'm usually smarter with these kinds of things. But now, whenever I start up my internet, it goes to this site telling me to download these antispywares, it happened right when I did the link. I dunno if it's an actualy windows antispy thing or not, but it keeps poping up with antispy things. What should I do if anyone knows? I have a feeling I might have walked right into a virus like some idiot.

Sorry for double post. But yeah, definantly an idiot, I have some sort of spyware/virus on my computer. I'm doing a scan right now. This thing keep popping up, but I dunno what to trust right now. Here's a pic.

Also, while I was just running my scan, nothing else open, all of a sudden out of nowhere a porn advertisement popped up. I'm not stupid, but I'm not knowledgable in antivirus stuff. Ack, I think I'm gonna call a computer tech in tomorrow, but any advice it appreciated.

Jeez, this is enough of this. Someone needs to put some kind of mod for new members to enter a registration code. Banning them isn't enough. Now members are getting inflicted with viruses.

As for your problem, run your Antivirus program immediately. I'm not 100% sure if this will fix the issue, but other than that, you're screwed. Try using Hijack This! when you find the root of the Virus to remove it.

To find out what its called, pop open your Task Manager, and (this might sound very lame,) start googleing processes to either find out what they are and how to remove them if they're bad.

BEEF!!! Told me of a great program that is a more in depth Task manager called Security Task Manager. If you want, try that too.

When you sign up, you have to enter in a code from an image(or sometimes Audio) and enter it in to stop auto-Registration of bots.

They still come, though. Very few numbers, though.

No, they don't. They don't know what to fill in there, so they leave it empty. Ba-zing, they can't register.

Well, after intensive scans and stuff I got rid of the stupid virus, I think. If anyone else gets the same symptoms then you can pm me and I'll tell you a few things to help get rid of it.
