I just got a 360 for Christmas. I want to know the cheapest way possible to "mod" a 360. I know modding isn't really possible, but I'm refering to sending modded forge varients to my 360 hard drive from my PC's hard drive.

The reason I'm asking is because none of my PC's have SATA connectors, and I keep reading in places that I will need some sorta action replay device or a PC SATA connector. Any help?

I am kinda asking without knowing what I am saying since I am a 360 modding noob.

Be aware even though I have xbox live, I never plan to use modded forge varients on it because I might get banned from either halomods.com or LIVE and everybody will get annoyed at me and call me a cheater. ;)

In case anybody suggests the xbox scene website, I am not requesting anything illegal nor a tutorial, I just want a cheap suggestion. ;)

First: there is no rule here for not going online with modded usermaps. The only rule is to keep them off your fileshare.

Second: You can transfer things to and from your 360 with several methods, and none of the following require that you open your computer case / have SATA on your mobo.

The cheapest options are either the Datel memory transfer kit (for use with mem cards) or the official Microsoft data migration cable (comes free with 120 GB HDD or Elite).

If you don't have an Elite or 120GB HDD and you want to send files that are too big for a Mem Card, you need to buy either an Xport or Xsata from Datel.

you can call microsoft and ask them to send you a data migration kit for free and they will, it worked for me, and thats how i connect my HDD to my PC

Umm, some do, and I do connect my HDD to my computer straight to my MOBO, I just open up my HDD and then take out the HDD and hook up the SATA to my MOBO and then grab an extra power cable and run it fully off of my computer. But that's only the FREE way of doing this, which you don't want anything free :/

I know you can do that, but I didn't think me listing that option would help him at all since he specifically said he DID NOT want to do that. Also, when did I say "I don't want any thing free"? I told him about the MS migration kit, which is totally free (if you have a 120GB HDD or Elite)...

Erm, mxrider108, I just got an Elite and no transfer kit came with it.
I believe it only comes with the 120 gig HDD standalone.

You request one from MS and they send you one.

More specifically:
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/syste ... ration.htm

There's a PDF at the bottom there with information.

Again, this is only applicable if you own an Elite console.

I put my pro and my core serial numbers on there and they sent me two.

I'm Really interested in this data migration kit but, at the end of the PDF file it read that if its used on a computer it not only wouldnt be recognized but it could harm your computer also , So I take it this can't be used as a modding tool correct?

It can be used as a modding tool, that is there simply to dissuade people from doing it. It will work and won't harm anything.

Oh, yeah that sounds like MS :P

so a computer would be able to detect whats on the HD?

or would you need some sort of software?

So do you absolutely have to have an Elite Console? I only have a Xbox 360 Pro console and I don't want to pay for stuff that can end up being $60!
Has anyone put their Pro serial code for both of the last fields and worked?
