Halo 3: Recon info in new GI
The December 2008 issue of Game Informer has a cover story on Halo 3: Recon - and it's a doozy. It doesn't contain any new screenshots, but there's quite a bit of concept art, and there's a lot of description of how the game is going to work. There are some very interesting tidbits included:
* Paul Bertone describes the scope of H3:R as "a three to five-hour expansion pack"
* Recon Armor will be earnable for all - complete the Vidmaster Challenge series of achievements and it's yours
* Bungie's Joe Staten says "we do not view this as a $60 title"
* The cover art is spectacular, and has been whipped up by Bungie newcomer Jaime Jones (google him - I found this gallery of pretty amazing stuff)
The game sounds to be a lot of fun to play - you'll need to read the article for details. If you're a subscriber, you should be seeing it today - or very soon. If you're looking for it on the newsstand, you might have to wait a week or two. I'm droolin'... (Louis Wu 23:08:11 UTC)

I really doubt the Recon armour bit. Nice to see that they have a GW artist on board though.

A bit of a buzz kill. I had a whole machinima in the works, and Recon was on the list. But not anymore. The list is (edited) as follows, in order or importance:
1. Self-gratitude
2. Making a name
3. Bragging rights
4. ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING ELSE
5. Recon

I'll halp. I know where to go, when which platform goes off like popcorn, and a general strategy.
You get me a time, I'll bring two others who are willing and ready. I managed to pull it off in about fifty minutes once.

Not that I was trying to earn it.. was just nice having something Bungie would award you with if you worked hard enough..

ZOMG! no more get recon if you share this pic with ten friends crap, or any more of the hype of recon. Woo! I am hyped for recon being un-noticed again, yay!
aside from that little thought i thought it was a neat idea to have an award for doing something noteworthy, although i am still waiting for my honor guard elite armor bungie...

I remember bungie saying they were going to have an award for the vidmaster crap, but I thought they addressed the question of "will the award be recon???" as no? I could have sworn I read that in a WU or on HBO...oh well, at least now their emails of "i can has recon?" will drop...and be replaced with "join need 1 moar for my coop game pl0x" emails...

No, they won't. Hence "Bungie Chest." Also, all Bungie gets is the Flaming Helmet. Which they even admitted was useless, and showed where you were all the time.
