The Original Story is on Bungie.

Announced at Tokyo Game Show, Halo 3 Recon is an expansion to the Halo 3 campaign where you play as an ODST.

The Trailer is just an addon to the KEEP IT CLEAN Teaser which was released a couple weeks ago.

Quoted from Xbox.com
"* All-new campaign content: The Halo 3: Recon campaign is an intriguing side story that takes place during the terrifying events leading up to the Master Chief’s return to New Mombasa in Halo 3. Experience the fate of Earth from the brand-new perspective of a special forces ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Trooper), adding a unique outlook and new gameplay elements to the events that unfold in the trilogy’s finale. While the feel of this new chapter greatly resembles that of previous Halo experiences, Halo 3: Recon will require you to employ more elements of stealth and cunning than ever before.
* Prepare to drop: Known for their courage, valor and, at times, insanity, ODSTs are among the fiercest UNSC soldiers, priding themselves on being the first unit deployed into hostile situations. While not as large or supernaturally gifted as their Spartan comrades, these "Hell Jumpers" more than compensate with their ferocious attitudes and unwavering nerve.
* Expanded multiplayer collection:No Halo experience would be complete without groundbreaking multiplayer content, and Halo 3: Recon gives fans more of what they love. With exclusive new maps and expanded Forge options, Xbox LIVE® Gold members will find more multiplayer content than ever before with Halo 3: Recon.
* Ever-growing community options: Enjoy all the great Halo 3 technological innovations, including Saved Films, screenshots, Campaign Scoring, and four-player co-op. All of the new multiplayer maps fully support the Forge editor, offering endless gameplay customization possibilities."

What do you guys think of it?

EDIT: The game is now called Halo 3:ODST.

Wow. Sounds pretty cool. Anything that increases the gameplay is a good thing surely.

I don't understand though. Is this a whole new game? It looks pretty amazing.

Grizzled ancients are working on it as there last halo project. I eagerly await what they do. Fall 2009 can't come soon enough in this case.

It's an SMG with a silencer, as far as speculation goes.

Before the Rampant Speculation enters the thread I suggest everyone reads (or at least glance) at these:

Can Someone explain this?

What is up with Multiplayer;
Bungie.net wrote:Will the Halo 3 : Recon multiplayer maps work with "regular" copies of Halo 3?

If you purchase the Mythic Map Pack early next year via Marketplace and your friend waits and gets them with the Halo 3 : Recon retail package next Fall, you can still play together. The multiplayer maps are all part of the Halo 3 "title ID" family, regardless of where or how you get them.
Yet as you see below it says New Campaign and Multiplayer.

It's not that complicated. It says new multiplayer maps, meaning the Mythic Map Pack.

Plus exclusive Recon made maps not downloadable for halo 3

So the multiplayer is the same as regular H3?

Yep.

I wish this would come out sooner, but then again what Scotty said in the rant thread is pretty true.

Highly doubtful. What I gathered from the interview posted that there's not going to be any new super weapons.

This is the first time Bungie has added a new weapon in an 'update'.
I wouldn't set any speculation in stone.

Seeing that this is the last Halo in the foreseeable future, I suspect, while overall same, it will be a improved version of what we have now both of multilayer and forge (All thanks to one year+ of Data gathering and watching fans reaction.)

*!* Does anyone here think their will be DLC for this?

What is Halo 3: Recon?

Halo 3: Recon is a standalone, disc-based campaign expansion to Halo 3. It will be available at fine retailers around the globe in Fall of 2009.

Oh we're quoting stuff we already know? Well you already knew my post, but I'll post again
ScottyGEE wrote:I do not...Since its essentially DLC of Halo 3 >_>
I would have said it IS DLC if it were DLC...Perhaps I used a poor choice of words.

Its an extension, a disc based one, it is essentially dlc as in its an addon to Halo...I was saying how why would they offer DLC for Halo 3 recon when its an extension of Halo 3. Extending an extension with extra MP multiplayer maps when it works with Halo 3 just makes little sense to me, they would just release it for Halo 3 alone and it'd still work...So is that better for you?
