I'd like to see a snow gulch for Halo 3.
For anybody still wondering where FTD has gone, here it is.

sort of bump-ish...but before i saw this thread i noticed that Valhalla shares the same format as Blood Gulch...

notice the 2 "bumps" in the ground right in front of both bases, that is on valhalla AND blood gulch...

the 2 caves on one side of the map, and a patch of elevated ground on the other also in both maps...

the winding river on valhalla sort of resembles the winding road found in blood gulch

on both maps (except on valhalla there is a crashed pelican blocking most of it) in between the 2 caves, there is a relatively large open area...

on coagulation there are rocks where a teleporter sends you, on valhalla in the same spot there are quite a few rocks in the area...more than some other areas

some less important details...both of the bases have very simple 2 floor layout with not a lot of weapons on top and some more weapons below...the flag spawns below too if i remember correctly, haven't played CTF on Valhalla in a while, and both bases have teleporters (or mancannons if you're thinking of valhalla) that are positioned on the side of the base that faces the center of the map...it just seems like they took blood gulch, changed the terrain to a snowish woodland area, gave it more cover by putting in rocks and hills, and replaced the winding road with a winding river

one last thing...the description..."this curious gorge" a seemingly unnecessary comment at the end of the description, but i think it implies something...something like...IT'S BLOOD GULCH!

in other words...i dont think we will see a halo 3 version of blood gulch

Er...

Guardian = remake of Lockout. But, they made Blackout. We might see a modified BloodGulch.

With the amount of people asking for it, I wouldnt be surprised either.

I really really hate valhalla, just as much as I grew to hate both coagulation and bloodgulch. I don't like big maps, I do much better on smaller ones. Which is why I loved lockout.

And guardian and lockout feel like two totally different maps. They share many simmilar concepts, but the layout is rearanged and doesnt feel anything like it's "inspiration". Not saying thats bad, I actually like it quite a bit.

Although I do have to say it's always a pleasant surprise to see older maps make it into updated games. But yeah, I also agree that Tombstone was a semi-terrible map and so was Desolation. ****, Carousel was *** stupid and a *** map in the first place. Along with that remake of Longest. Longest was awesome, the remake = crap. These are only my expressed opinions though. I'm not here to argue.
A Dammy remake just would'nt work in H3, the pistole is what made larger more open maps work in H1.

Blood gulch and coagulation were my absolute favorite maps. I used to test all of my mods on them before moving on to other maps, and in H2 if i did a bsp conversion i used coag. Valhalla is a poor excuse for a remake. It is a decent map but blood gulch needs to be a hole in the middle of a desert with a classic coag/blood gulch base shape. Honestly i would be happy if they took coagulation and just re skinned it replacing the tele with man cannon.

What a waste of time typing that...
Bungie has stated numerous times that Valhalla is the spiritual successor to Blood Gulch, just as Guardian is to Lockout.

As Veegie said, Valhalla : Blood Gulch :: Guardian : Lockout. But then Bungie made Blackout, so I suppose there is a chance they could remake BG. Not to say it's a large chance, as they haven't even hinted at anything like it yet.

Coagulation wasn't the Blood Gulch of Halo 2, Lockout was, which is why they chose to remake it as more than a spiritual successor. (Speaking to popularity, obviously.)

I hope they do. It was a popular map in both Halo games. It really annoys me when people say "urg, it's just like Valhalla". If you play Valhalla the same way you play Blood Gulch... you have a problem. Valhalla has that big hill in the middle, which obscures your view of the enemy base, making it a good position to hold. I really like both maps, maybe even Valhalla a bit more because of that hill, but I still want BG.
