The image speaks for itself but I noticed this just a few minutes ago and I was wondering what these "unique" players have in common and what qualifies you for it.

Individual players that are not the same person/gamertag...I'm sure that's including guests.

Uh, just individual people...
If I sign on twice, it counts me once, because I am one person. If it counted all players to sign on, regardless of unique, if I signed on twice, it would count me twice towards that number.

So wouldn't the players online part be higher than the unique players?

No...
The unique players is over 24 hours, players online is right at this moment..
