network for halo 3

ok, im getting a little anoyed in having to move the router downstairs every time i want to play on live so im asking this. Is there any way to set up the network setting on the xbox and the computer so i can directly connect the computer to my xbox and go on live. Dont just say do static ip, i want details.

i used to have d-link its a wireless reciever, it worked pretty good...

i think it's possible. my friend has it connected to the back on his computer(can not be a labtop!!!) and have the computer connected to the wall or router.

the computer i use is connected to the internet via wireless to the router upstairs.

yeh just bridge your connection u should be good, or u can just derect connect it to ur xbox

Buy a crossover Ethernet cable if you do not own one. A normal one may work as well, however I have only had luck with a crossover. Then, plug one end into the back of your xbox and the other end into the back of the computer. Go onto your computer and Click Start > Control Panel > Network Connections. Highlight your wireless connection as well as the xbox (it won't say xbox, it will say something along the lines of "Local Area Network"). Then, right click on one of them and hit "Bridge Connections". Once that is complete, make sure your computer is connected to the internet and you will be set to go.
However, you could just make it easy on yourself and buy a wireless adapter for the xbox.

Turk don't listen to all these other hard ways. Have two NIC ports (or one with a wireless in your case). One from modem to pc and one from pc to xbox360. Select both the connections and right click bridge and you are done
. No need for cross over cables or anything, the 360 does the splitting for you.

Crossover cables: for similar devices (such as xbox to xbox, or xbox to PC)
Regular ethernet cable: for device to router (xbox to router, PC to router, etc.)

You do not require crossover. The xbox360 has built in cross over. It automatically detects and converts.

shadow lag was right on the bridging thing.
i already use a cross over cable for when i ftp with the xbox 1 so that wasnt the issue.

get a ethernet cable (sp?) and hook it up to the back of ur comp then go to network setting and right click ur modem, then go to the advanced tab, and press allow other network users to connect through this computers internet connection, then save and restart your computer, and xbox and voala

Just go with ICS, very simple to set up and works fine, as for the comment you cant do it on a laptop thats a load of crap as ive done it with my laptop over a wireless connection many time.
