Rules for Modding Halo 3?

Well seeing as how halo 3 is coming very soon shouldn't we discuss the rules towards modding halo 3?
First off the only way at launch will be to inject and extract the map files from the disk and then make a backup with your modded maps on the disk.....
I can see Halo 3 modding strictly prohibited seeing as it can be used for cheating on other games or maybe even halo 3 (I doubt they will be this stupid this time around
So I want to know this sites policies on modding halo 3?
Thanks,
LEo

Its definatly going to be allowed. As for specific rules I'm not sure, but at least all the current relevant one will not be allowed, such as .map file upload or xbl mod talk etc.

The main reason rules were so strict in beta was because items were being ripped, leaked, and abused from the game. Though my views on this are mixed, I had little control over it. Halo 3 modding shouldn't be much if any different than 1 or 2.

If you can do that with Halo 1 and 2, I'd assume you could with 3. I honestly don't know considering I don't mod any xbox games.

Im guessing after the games out for a week or so the rules will be very similar to halo 2 modding.

only thing is that halo 3 modding wont be as big cause its "harder" to mod the 360. If i can get a modded 360 its going to be anoying burning everytime i make a change.

Or...because there was no way to play it offline, and we don't condone Live modding. It'll be fine to mod, but as you said, the only way to do it will be by using a rewritable DVD and re-burning it over and over and over...until some sort of dvd2xbox360 app comes out.

well i don't see any use to bring halo 2 and halo 1 stuff into halo 3 cuz most of the stuff is already there =\ so no ripping would still be there but not so strict to halo 2 to halo 3 and 1 to 3. but maybe 3 to 2 and 3 to 1 would still be there.

Also, you can't mod online. Not unless you flash your drive. Because they haven't released any maps to download onto your hdd.

It's pretty straight forward. Typical rules apply. Halo 2-esque. No Live modding. No cheating mods. Stuff of the "common sense" sort. Obviously we'll be updating rules as things come up. We can't predict what will happen once the game comes out.
Ripping content to other games, as far as I'm aware (And as far as it has been explained to me), taking assets from Halo 3 and injecting them into other games (Halo 1 Xbox and Halo 2 Xbox only) should be allowed, as long as it is hosted off-site. Putting content in other games crosses into licensing territory outside of Bungie themselves. Same would be permitted vice-versa.
Tutorials for getting the maps from your console will be allowed. However, we don't need 500 tutorials. It would be best to have one definitive guide. As always, this should be towards getting the maps, not towards modding your console. Direct people to more appropriate places (XS) for that sort of thing.
Another thing, this topic isn't about Live modding (DrXThirst/turk645). Gametag was talking about the Beta. The reason we were strict on the Beta was because of some internal content and the inability to use the Beta offline. The specifics really don't matter. It's not important if you can or not.
