I don't like vista I like windows xp. Why should people have to buy vista just to play a game. Some people infact a lot of people like windows xp more than vista. Why should people change they operating system just because a big company like Microsoft tells us to. Plus the fact that Halo 2 vista runs much better on XP any way.
And this is not a hack do you see a download to download a hack NO! its a Petition!
Please read the post before replying next time!

You can use Windows XP as your primary operating system if you want. Get Microsoft Virtual PC, 2+ GB ram, a graphics card that doesn't suck, some knowledge and you should be good.

why would they relarse a XP version when microsoft is planning to kill XP by the start of 2008 and vista will be everywhere by 2009

Why make it for XP? Just buy Vista and play it like it was intended.

Vista is a great and stable operating system. The only reason in my opinion someone wouldnt like it is that their computer isnt up to spec. You can turn off all the annoying crap. And why would someone want to run a 5 year old operating system if theres a new/better one out?
Do you think xbox uses the same software as xbox360? no. it uses software made for a faster system and more up to date. Thus halo 2 vista is like an xbox 360 game. Why would you want to play it on an old xbox even if you could??
sorry, kinda hypothetical.

its cuz no moddig apps will work 100% correctly for the other halo games in vista.
I use vista and xp. but vista is only good if you disable that annoying Aero theme and go to the classic theme. saves alot of ram

How come all the modding apps work perfectly fine for me? And yes, Vista is pretty cool and eventually, even more games will come out for vista and then vista will be worth it. Everything required to run well on vista will be cheaper as well so then no one can complain about vista.

umm
1. intel core 2 duo
2. 2gb ram
3. nvidia geforce 8800 746mb
i think its vista compatible.
modding halo 2 xbox doesnt work well cuz the apps were designed for .net 2.0 not .net 3.0 and desktop composition screws over h2c

nahh really? im not stupid. im just saying. ask any real modder out there and they will tell you that halo 2 modding isnt right on vista.. besides, this is h2 vista discussion not a h2 xbox discussion.
this topic should be locked ne ways.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As the name of the game implies, Halo 2 on PC is for VISTA only.
It appears that there are ways of getting around this, but we do not care, we do not want to see it, hear it or have anyone allude to someone doing this. We just wanna see your fantastic mods and levels, we don't care about the operating system it's on.
So from now on there will be no topics about Halo 2 on XP...
As gtavcmaster100 put it so nicely, we are a modding site, not a cracking site.
Hopefully you guys can respect this, purchase the operating system like good people (It is a vey nice OS and don't even try to use the poor internet arguments against me ) and we can all carry on modding this great game.

The reason for XP made applications going all awry on Vista is because of the way memory is treated differently on both OS's. Tis all.

So you have to mod halo 2 to be a "real modder"?
I mod halo 1 and i have no troubles modding it and i am a real modder.
