Feature Request List

Post by Grenadiac »

Since many of us know what worked well and what didn't with Halo1 PC and HaloCE, I thought it might be a good idea to start kicking around some ideas for feature requests. Once we have a sizable collection of ideas, I will put up some kind of poll where we can figure out the popularity of different options. Once we gather all of this info (especially the modding related info), I'll figure out a way to get the info to the right people.

So let's hear your ideas. Some of mine:

-server logging (to keep track of stats, etc)
-server pure on/off option (to allow modding of maps or not)
-mapfile verification
-video tutorials rather than written tuts for utils
-full featured tools rather than "dumbed down" ones, even if we have to figure stuff out ourselves

I'd have to say, i hope they release the SDK with Sapien, Guerilla and Tool, any other tool would be too noob friendly I'm guessing.. Some kind of way to automatically (Users choice of course) download a custom map if you join a server which is running a map or updated map you do not have. Map file verification like Grenadiac said, hopefully this would be enough to stop online cheating.

Since they will be working with plenty of system resources it would be nice to see the "Saved Films" option added back into the mainmenu. I think it would also be good to see some sort of in-depth stats review like their live services with images of where everything took place so they could be saved to your computer and viewed whenever.

The programming team at bungie are constantly upgrading the tool set used by their employees ie Sapien etc.. A 'built in map maker' could mean anything, like i said.. hopefully it's the tools we all know and love..

Ask yourself that question for a moment.

They made thoose in 2001 and im pretty shure they gave up on it now.
They developed guerilla to quickly edit tags, and Noguchi himself created Sapien entirely by himself. And they have been updated for Halo 1 XBOX, Halo 1 PC, and Halo 2 XBOX. If they would have given up, why would they be updating them all the way up to 2004? And 2006+ for H3 etc.? Exactly, you have no insight past information that is available to the public-eye, do not act like you don't.

Bungie wrote:There will also be some kind of map-customization ability. Does that mean you can build your own maps from scratch, pixel by pixel, importing your own textures, scripts and detailed shaders? Or does it mean one empty room and a crate? Well, we'll have more news on that later this year, but it will be cool, we guarantee that.
If YOU could read, you'd discover the absence of your alligations.

How are you so inept?

I hope that the SDK will not be an in-game editor, but something much more powerful... and with scripting capability.

Oh, and online co-op.

Faster shaders, much faster shaders...why? because since Halo pc was sorta bad on computers that had better specs than the xbox (variable pcs). I hope though that they tweak some things in Halo 2 pc to allow full compatibility with PC unlike what gearbox did, though they did a good job :D

Unfortunately, if you don't have good security, you have lots of processes running, and a firewall to keep your computer from protected, you could still have a problem...

This is kind of a Non-feature i guess you would call it. But I don't want Microphone support unless its ventrilo or teamspeak because all you usually get on xbox live is people yelling at eachother over skill and it drives me crazy... I just want to play and not have someone yelling into my ear all because I didn't kill the guy with the sword. Just an opinion about what I think. Not all people are bad on Live but a majority are.

they should add the ability to download a map from the server so if you want a map you dont have to search for it online you can just goto the server and download it

but custom maps can usually be like 15mb! (and btw some people may be smart enough to inject a virus intheir maps, oh crap i hope i didnt give people ideas)

It may take a little too long to wait in some lobby to download a map like that and you just want to play already =)

Making custom maps arent supposed to be really easy, usually if they were easily created, it's quality would be crap and looked down and some people would look down at that person. At the same time people would pity that person.

So yeah, just no (I have succesfully repeated what you have just said Vegito and Ravnzcroft!!)
