i agree with that, i find games don't run too good on XP so by playing halo 2 on windows vista you don't need an 8,000 dollar gaming machine to play without lag.

Sounds like you have a pirated version. The homo who made my comp used a pirated version of XP, and its really hard to do just about anything.

I believe that creating h2pc for vista is a very smart thing. first of all vista comes with DirectX 10, second halo2pc will most likely use pieces of the os to it's advantage *think about it, having a server or friends list on the side pane*. Thirdly look how old xp is, look how short of a time span was in between the other OSes compared to XP. Microsoft can't just say that XP is the last on it's list while the competetors build better OSes. Look at Apple, they are constantly updating and upgrading their OS, Linux has more flavors than Blue Bunny, and we have a *5 year* old os. In that time span Macs have had multiple upgrades in OS and hardware.

Why do people want to stay with xp? You can upgrade to vista quite easily. My beta *Vista Beta 2* is running a bunch of XP drivers and currently runs all of my programs. Am I happy with it? YES! When it comes out I will be picking up a copy of Vista Ultimate, no matter how much it costs.

Why are there new game consoles, TVs, cars, computer hardware, ext? It is to improve and upgrade what they are replacing! Why do people get new vidoe cards when they come out? Because they are BETTER!

yeah there really isnt a reason why it should be made for only vista...why would you buy vista just for halo two? its pointless. when you already have a good enough one for xbox. that if you have one...

I'm sorry, but I can't install vista on ANY of my computers, mostly because of space.
Did you know you need 15Gb of space on your hard drive to install vista?
My PC currently has a (don't laugh at the following) 12gb hard drive.
My notebook has a 20gb and I have 1 gig of space left.
Also, none of my computers would support Aero, so why even bother? I can't get DX 10, I can barely even run DX 9 on half my computers.
I don't need H2PC, I have an Xbox, two in fact.

I'll be buying it for the map editor... Halo 2 PC -> Halo 2 Xbox conversions mb??!?! And what's wrong with Vista? That's like everyone over at bungie.net asking for halo 3 on xbox 1, it just isn't going to happen. Vista is coming, and if they keep making things (especially things that will sell alot like Halo 2 Vista) for XP and older Operating Systems, they aren't going to sell as much of the new. Moving forward...

What's wrong with Vista? I happen to want to play a game on a faster, newer, better operating system, as opposed to a 5 year old piece of slow junk. The only people who oppose Vista are the ones with <$500 PCs who can't support it. Selling to the lowest common denominator is a bad policy that creates LESS progress. Oh wait, that's what bungie did last time, and look at the garbage port we received. If you all want to be mennonites, go ahead, don't drag us down with you.

There is nothing wrong with Vista, and is this too much of a bump? I'm using it right now, its sexy, I just hope I can keep this version forever becuase its release cadadate 1 which means its pretty shinny and bug free. But I think that it should be on Vista, hey MS can make money any way they want, they're not a charity.

Windows XP couldn't support Halo 2 Vista, it just wouldn't be able to run on it.

And yes mammoth, that was a bump.

Compatibility mode is in Vista, I've used it. And the only reason to put H2 on VIsta is money. It may run a little better than it would on XP but not by much. There are plenty of games that have better grahpics that run on XP fine, example: Oblivion. THeonly reason is to promote the new OS, which is kind of annyoing by M$.

I'm sure somebody will find the .dll's and crack them.

Then we will all enjoy H2CE on XP. :D

Doubt that. Mainly becuase H2 PC will use resources that are on Vista but not on XP.

Well seeing has how Vista has support for Directx 10 and XP probably won't, I'm thinking Halo 2 Vista will be able to take advantage of Directx 10 and that is why it won't work on XP.

You wouldn't beleive how much M$ is paying bungie to realease H2 for Vista only, like mammoth said, it's a money thing. Oblivion Runs very smoothily with remarkable graphics on XP.

heres the thing though. not everyone is going to be making the jump to Windows Vista when its released. So they will probably have it like they currently do with directx. just updates for 95, 98, 2000, XP, and Vista too.
