[Skin] Flaming Snow Scorpion Tank

Post by dmanbiker »

When I first learned how to create skins for halo I couldn't wait to get to skinning. I of course decided to test my new found knowledge on the warthog because it's awesome, but I was still curious to see what the other bitmaps looked like. I decided that I would try to skin every vehicle possible, and behold I get to the scorpion tank skin and "oh my God" it was extremely confusing. So I waited about a year and a half or so and finally decided to actually try to skin it :P This definitely isn't perfect and isn't super good, but I don't think it looks horrible; I think it's a good attempt. I stopped where I did, because I couldn't figure out what anything else was on the tank to skin, and I was tired and wanted to get done, so I added a few more details and stopped here. I like it.

no... It's a symbol for a faction in a fictional universe I like to draw about. If you look at it closely it looks nothing like a swastika. :P Other people have made that same mistake.

It was more of a joke :p

But the skin doesn't look very good.. Just as advice, don't put one solid color over the whole bitmap, it doesn't give good turnouts.

hehe it was worth a shot. I just couldn't comprehend the skin well enough to make it very good. I aggree with the solid color thing, but I really couldn't think of a better way to do it at the moment. I see where you're coming from though.

swastika is a sign of good luck....well hitler used it because it's like an ancient good luck symbol but now when people see it they get offended and what not.

Sir, you could have just changed the Hue, Desaturated it, and then increased the brightness so that you still have the original skin, with the detail, except it's lighter.

Because usually when there is a swastika, it means you're a Nazi.

I blame ignorance. Thats the cause for multiple problems in modern society, such as racism, sexist beliefs, overall prejudice, and religion. Ignorance, being the lack of knowledge, causes all of those things.

Im not calling anyone here ignorant, at all. That it is NOT my intent, I was giving my belief on what caused the tendancy for a swatstika to be synomynous with a symbol the Nazis created, as opposed to being one they adopted. Please do not take this the wrong way.

It's the idiocy of stereotypes..

Anyway, i can't see the picture so i can't judge. but, "Flaming snow"??

Snow can't catch on fire, it's water based.

no more talking about swastikas from now on. Yes it is a symbol of good luck, but it is also definately associated with the Nazi party. People can have individual views on how to interpret it, so it's best to be discussed outside of a halo modding forum.

I don't like this skin very much, but please, make more, you've got the right idea. You should avoid solid colors, and try more blending with the original details.

Er yes it can catch fire, under circumstance's in the least.
in Iceland there is methane trapped in fields of ice in which you would get a very nice plume of fire.
plus the fact of water being two parts hydrogen on part oxygen can help is stressed enough.
