model:XM8 SR variant with laser

alright this isn't my first attempt at weapon making but i still suck at it. alright i made this out of an sr fp and i really dont feel like making a non fp model so just use hht to switch the model that the sr uses. and in the pic ignore the skin a failed attempt. along time ago that i gave up on.

Not too sure about the stretched vertice there, but the rest is nice.

You gotta turn up your settings, it looks like HL1. I don't think the model would look that bad if you turned up the settings. The stray vertex and blurry scope bother me the most, and I think the scope would be less blurry if you turned up the textures.

Wow.. for a first that looks pretty nice. 8/10 if you take away that stray vert. Looks annoying. :wink: Also, making the sr show up in 3p takes a matter of seconds.

For the stray vertice, it looked like u were trying to make a laser. If thats the case, just use an extra cylinder and stretch it, but make sure u know what part it is so u can skin it. The models not bad for a first but theres room for improvement.

well ive been taking screens with Halo Trial so the textures dont work that well.

That's no excuse. Halo Trial has all the graphics capabilities of halo full.

As far as laser sights go.... yah. Totally functional, uses a secondary trigger, toggles, no damage, no custom models or bitmaps.
As far as I know, this is the first functional laser sight. Could someone rip it to pc tags if I send the files?

And GJ on the model, but it just looks kinda sloppy. Maybe clean it up a bit when ya got some time, but it's a good start.

Didn't mean to throw your post off topic L33T_Green, I just thought you might like it since you seem to make laser sights a lot. I have the tags in a map if someone can convert them for me.

I'm pretty sure ripping is against the rules here, at least from CE - PC. And if you can do it in CE, why not just make a CE map?

And the other guy, stop double posting crap not relataed to this.

And it is possible to make a laser in PC, hex edit the sniper rifle's weap tag, give it a secondary trigger, make it shoot out a second sniper rifle bullet which you rebuilt the map with (and give it a trigger lock, drop trigger lock or holds trigger and holds trigger when dropped) and make the sniper rifle bullet have no impact effects, no detonation effects and no damage. And if you have the sentinel beam built into the map, set the contrail to sentinel beam, and photoshop the sentinel contrail bitmap to pure red. Now you have a laser sight. I've never tried this before myself, but a while ago I turned the pistol into a flashlight, kind of similar except instead it fired a projectile which went detonated almost instantly after it was created, and had a light volume of the ar's flashlight.. But I'm not really sure because I had that in an old mod, and I can't find the modded map in which I did that.

EDIT: But in order to do that, you need to rebuild a map with two sniper rifle projectiles and a sentinel beam, and when you edit the sniper rifle it will become larger and will have to be injected to a bigger meta file or have to be rebuilt.

so could u post a tut on it for pc using hex and stuff. btw, wat does it mean if it takes 10 minutes to rebuild a map>? :?
