[MOD] MINI ICE FIELDS (map is 75% smaller + joiner friendly)

In my opinion, Ice Fields is way too big for it's own good. The time it takes to find and enemy in the core map is far too long, because the map is too big. I rarely get more then 10 kills in a CTF game, because it is possible to just drive to the enemy base, then drive back without finding anyone (or you might only find 1-2 people). My mod fixes these problems. It makes the map approximately 75% smaller. There is no need for newbie vehicles, because you can walk accross it in about 20 seconds!


MAP LAYOUT
  • This mod was designed for a 4-8 player game of CTF.
  • Flags were placed at opposite ends of the area below the bridge.
  • Tree walls at each end of the canyon block access to the usual bases.
  • The "green wall" doors are teleporters. Walk through the one at ground level to be teleported to your team's sniper platform.
  • Walk through the doorway on top of the sniper platform that is blocked by a rock to be teleported to the top of the bridge.
  • Tree/rock walls line the sides of the bridge, so you cannot escape through there. There is a rocket launcher up there. The only way down is to jump to the nearby ledge that lines the lower canyon walls.
  • I have included a version of the map that does not have a teleporter that moves you onto the bridge. Some people might prefer this version.
  • Player respawn points were moved close to each team's flag.
  • I added some weapons and grenades, and moved some around. Every weapon is on the map, except for the Rocket Launcher in the no bridge version.
  • The map is 100% joiner friendly. The only "WTF?" moment they may have is when they run into the invisible tree wall.
  • My own delagginator has been enabled for the Shotgun, Assault Rifle, Pistol, and Sniper rifle. These projectiles have had their speed increased by about 10^35 times, which means less lag (probably about ~10 MS less). What's the side effect? The host can't see sniper trails as easily (only when in listen mode, not dedicated server).

These are the abbreviations:
AR = Assault Rifle
PR = Plasma Rifle
PP = Plasma Pistol
FRG = Fuel Rod Gun
Flamer = Flamethrower
Frags = Fragmentation Grenades
Plasmas = Plasma Grenades
OS/AC = The spot where an Overshield or an Active Camoflauge can be
Shotty = Shotgun
Sniper = Sniper Rifle


ITEM RESPAWN TIMES
  • 20 seconds - Assault Rifle, Needler, Plasma Pistol, Plasma Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun
  • 45 seconds - Frag Grenades, Plasma Grenades, Sniper Rifle
  • 1 minute - Health
  • 90 seconds - Overshield, Active Camoflauge
  • 2 minutes - Flamethrower, Rocket Launcher (BRIDGE VERSION ONLY)
  • 3 minutes - Fuel Rod Gun

Not bad, I would have to agree with the fact of ice fields being too small. I think placing the flags on the sniper spots might make it a bit more interesting and in a better defensive position, but thats just me :)

this looks neat, and i would use it, but the rar file cant be unarchived. it says a error ocured during the stuffit operation. can you put it in a zip file or something? and yes, i downloaded it twice to make sure.
EDIT: nvm, i got it working. neat mod 7.5 out of 10 :wink:

You could have imported the giant outer doors instead of using the rocks.

Nice idea though.

If you make the rocks into vehicle types, you can alter the layout of the map between games by using custom gametypes and switching vehicles on and off.
