i just downloaded this to see it in photoshop and was expecting some random texture just placed on the skin and...
.... boy was i wrong!!!
dude! this is sweet! you actually took the time to edit out the parts that needed to show through and the camo is so well placed on this its unreal! this is one of the best tanks ive seen in a long time. i would almost be willing to say this needs a outstanding nod. im just simply impressed on how simple it may be looking from the .dds end, but when you look at it, you can also see the work placed into it.
i would love to offer this in redux over the black/gray tank i did. awesome work.
heres a pic of it on my end.

well, theres skinning of course. just open the pic up in photoshop and skin. then theres some really advanced things. you know each picture you open has different channels? like R,G,B? if your using photoshop you can go to the layer window and click "channel" instead of "layers".
well.. i went through and edited each layer on the RGB scale. you can really make a skin stand out more in my opinion and really polish it up using some different filtering techniques. now.. dont get that twisted as slapping filters on something and calling it a day, but some of the different filters will effect your skins on seperate channels in a good way if you know what your doing.
just use some trial and error and youll see what im speaking of. alot of textures in halos bitmaps are pixelated or have a corroded look to them that just look "blah" to me.
and remember this too.. alpha layers can be edited as well. matter of fact you cant mod the halo logo on the main screen without messing with that alpha layer on its own.
then theres multipurposes but thats a different subject on its own. look around the tuts section and check on google and your bound to find something. and yes, it can be as simple as using google and entering "how to edit alpha layer in picture".
hope this helped.

well, i understood some of that. i cant do anything with photoshop... only have gimp and photophiltre.
and i agree with you about the corroded look. they only look good on the origonal skins.
also, i did edit the multipurpose thing to make it lighter, and that seems to have helped a little.
thanks =)
