For console games - 1.Easy to understand and responsive controls. 2.Some sort of a story line (not always necessary, but its nice to have one) 3.Game play that changes, so the game has replay value. (Intelligent AI, multiple ways to win, sandbox game play, ect.) 4.Fun, but not addictive multiplayer....

I'm a huge fan of ID's older games, and here is my analysis: Original doom games (1,2,final,ect) - Awesome, especially if you use a new engine (I love doomsday) Doom 3 - not so much, the action is ok but its not that scary. Doom RPG - Epic win Quake 1 and it's mission packs - Epic win, mostly becaus...
