Mono is a .net runtime designed for linux. It should be available in the Ubuntu repositories. However, it is possible that Engineer will still not work. Microsoft .NET has some components that are platform specific (anything in the Microsoft.Win32 namespace for example). That said, it is probably wo...

An idea for progressive resigning.

Progressive Resigning The tired old way of calculating a map signature is to XOR every dword in the file starting from 2048. The unfortunate drawback to this is that a full pass through a large file is required. File access costs performance several factors of ten. However, it should be notable tha...

Perhaps, the solution here is not to berate the quality of an impossibly large mappack, but simply not to call it a mappack at all. Perhaps it should be referred to instead as a "patch set". Frankly, I don't have the time or willpower to download each patch as it comes out. But occasionall...

Meta Access Information

I am working on an application. I need to access meta data. I have successfully calculated the secondary magic. And I understand that the data location is the following: start of the meta + meta offset + value offset However, I have found conflicting reports of how to calculate the meta start. One i...

Of course it is. But what would you suggest? This site is based in Halo Modding. Besides though they can't say so explicity, I have gotten the idea from bungie.net that they respect the modding community. They can't give permission, because of business restrictions. But consider Halo CE. They obviou...

Forgive my critical nature. But your topic title starts with the word "another". Why do we need "another" program manager? I am not telling you that this is a bad idea. But what makes your program better or different? edit: and since everyone here is running windows, I have one w...

Look, it is merely a question of respect. You ask people before you use there work. The includes The Swamp Fox. Whether the site has an "open source attitude" or not, unless Swamp Fox says "take this and do whatever with it", you should ask. And no, I doubt the Swamp Fox will care.

I don't know if I would have put it that way. But to some extent "smacktalker" is right. If the Swamp Fox wanted the spawns fixed, he would have done so.

Uh, nulling out the shaders will leave the collision though, won't it. I believe, if it's just standard scenery you can just null out SCEN reference in the SCNR tag.

Insolence works fine in and of itself. Just be prepared to not use entity if you want to drag-and-drop in insolence. The reason I defend insolence is that somethings don't work through entity. For example a true bipd swap (not an hlmt swap). It has never worked through entity for me, but it does wor...
