Re: Help with Unix
The built in echo command writes out any words that follow it on the same command line to standard output so it's output can be directed to a file.

Re: College Class "Vista vs. Linux"
I didn't mean to imply that was only for Linux. Sorry, I should have been more specific.

Re: College Class "Vista vs. Linux"
There is no viruses or spyware, as of yet, for Linux (Doesn't mean it won't happen). Ubuntu has a built in firewall called netfilter and it must be configured with a program Firestarter. It turns away all incoming data at it's initial start (unless you change it of course) and allows all outgoing da...

Re: College Class "Vista vs. Linux"
Linux (Ubuntu) has no viruses to date and has an internal firewall that monitors all incoming traffic. No internet security required. If you know UNIX C Shell, Linux is very convenient because you can use the terminal and literally do everything from there. For example, in the terminal type : sudo a...

In 3v3, 1 person as the Professor, 1 person as the Arbiter, and 1 person as Forge Forge builds his base entirely of supply pads and sends them to the other players. Anders builds up reactors and makes an army of hawks and Arbiter starts creating Scarabs. Forge and Anders from the beginning get a few...

How do you get it? I've built multiple reactors but I never get the option in an air pad. Is it somewhere else?

Has anyone here worked with the JavaFX Platform?

Is it easy to learn, efficient, and has any of you actually used it on mobile devices or other computers?

Re: Booting Ubuntu from External Hard Drive
Well, I was considering both options. It seems harder to put windows on the external. Thus, Ubuntu seems to be the better option. Linux on the external and Windows on the internal. (Considering sometime in the future, after my purchases, e.g. virus protection, etc., expire, I think I will just compl...
Re: Colleges!
Finishing up my sophomore year at the University of Dallas. I am a math major but plans are to get my masters in computer science, then possibly off to become a biostatistician. I will probably graduate when some of you folks will be graduating for the first time.

Re: Booting Ubuntu from External Hard Drive
1. Yes, it does. I actually recently had to reset the MBR via a usb drive. Vista decided to overwrite the MBR. 2. http://www.simpletech.com/parts/spu35320.htm 3. Ubuntu 8.10 64 bit, Laptop: Intel t7100, 4g Ram 4. Why not both? So, based off of your suggestions, it should reinstall itself on the exte...

Re: Booting Ubuntu from External Hard Drive
I haven't figured it out yet. Except, I am having trouble with the formatting of the hard drive. It doesn't want to work well switching between Windows and Linux.

Re: Booting Ubuntu from External Hard Drive
Interesting. I'm still working on it, hopefully I can get some good results. I would like to try multiple operating systems if possible on my hard drive. Mac, Solaris, Ubuntu Mint, Vista, Windows 7. Will be very cool.

Re: Booting Ubuntu from External Hard Drive
I believe my computer has a boot from usb, I will look later. I know, in discussion with friends, they have booted from a flash drive, so I'm almost 100% it can be done, though external hard drives might be more equipped. If so, I wouldn't know where to being on partitioning the external hard drive.

Booting Ubuntu from External Hard Drive
Is it possible? Recently, I dual booted my laptop with Vista and Ubuntu. However, I have ran out of hard drive space dramatically. Since I already have an external hard drive, I feel no need to upgrade my hard drive already on the laptop. I would rather use Ubuntu at home, (which is where I use it t...

Well since the conversion of rads to degs is 180/pi you have to set up X(180/pi) = X and solve. Then again there's also that looping situation so you have to check against the time when the X in rads = 360n + X in degrees. That should give you the general solution. Ooh I like it. On the other one, ...

No, time is a dimension. Seconds are a measure of time. You wouldn't say that length is a measure of itself. You wouldn't say that length is a measure of itself because it isn't. Length, measures the distance between to given points. Now, I'm no physics expert, but if your willing, please explain h...

Your still alive? I hope so, or else this has been a real waste of time. Except time is only a measurement of itself. So really, I have done nothing in space. Except that space was created from nothing. So therefore I was created from nothing. If I am nothing, have I really wasted anything? How cou...
