If I've saved Halo 2 to my XBOX to mod the original maps, is it possible to play the modded original maps on LIVE?

As the titles states, I'm wondering if it is at all possible to soft-mod an XBOX 360. If so what exploit would you use? could you mod it like a regular XBOX? I'm in doubt that you can soft mod it at all but my friend is wondering.

Okay, I've softmodded my xbox using Krayzie's Ndure 1.1 and i've modded all the new levels (new=downloaded) but i still can figure out how to mod the old maps!! Can anyone help me out here?

ps - for some reason i can't save halo 2 to my harddrive!!? it's a "error 112"

i ftp'd into my xbox and found the new maps but now i can't find the old maps.
