Don't be afraid to take the time to create more textures it cant hurt and would make ur map gold. I do agree with the paintball idea I've gotten the bug to work on a paintball map. If anyone wants to help I'm not super pro but I have experience and I'm friendly and i learn quick. =P

My suggestion would be to incorporate some wood or something. It is a grassland but that doesn't nessecarily mean that everything is grass. That Plasma Pistol does look cool maybe make a Forest Warfare type map. That could be cool...
