Definitely keep the rockets, a chaingun would be little more than an immobile, double LAAG. Homing rockets, on the other hand, would be quite a bit different from the original gameplay (especially if they were tuned just right so that someone could evade one if he was good enough). I love that late...

Very good modelling no doubt, its cool without a doubt. But i think you know as well as i do, a model is nothing. Sure its nice to show off with, but first you must skin it, skinning is more important than a model in most cases. A good skin can make or break your model so i hope you have a cool ski...

Chaingun looks a bit too much like an armchair.
