Halo PC dedicated server name issue?

Hello. Does anyone know the program (or technique) used to put non-printable ASCII codes in the server name for Halo PC?

There are a bunch of servers like the B

man... are people just now getting halo still? BC is tabbing their server name in the .init like it was done for many years now. this is to old tbh.

anyways..

open notepad.
type and hit these keys as i say them.

"tab, tab, tab, tab, tab, tab, p, e, p, s, i"

see how my name got shifted to the right bigtime? you do the same thing in your .init. halo doesnt see it as big spaces thoe. this can also be done in your profile name as well to make your name show up in score, kills, deaths..whatever providing you have the right profile hack for it. if you want the hack its in the utility's pages.

hope this made sense cause i wrote this assuming you have some basic halo experience considering your offering a server to the public.

I tried your suggestion of inserting tabs prior to the name (both with and without quotations), but I got this error message "Server name unset, defaulting to Halo". Any other suggestions?

can you post a copy of your .init setup here? use the code button when replying. please make sure to change the rcon to something else so people wont have your rcon pass.

Here is the init file, with the tabs in it (I tried both with and without the quotations.

Its a home run dedicated server, on a T2 internet connection, I'm using the latest 1.07 version of haloded.exe, I left all the maps and gametypes the default that came with it.

If I remove the tabbed spaces and just name it normally (again both with or without quotations) it does show up in the GameSpy server listing and I can enter the game. So there doesnt appear to be a problem with the actual server running, just adjusting the name to handle other characters, such as

Is it possible they modified the ui.map or the actual haloded.exe?

I did a search on google to see if anyone had a website that describes how the special characters are placed in the name and I was only able to find two relevant pages.
