Computer Boot up question.

Post by TomClancey »

I have a question about computer boot up. How do I make it so my computer programs like xFire and MSN load before my computer logs on? I've seen it before on Google, but didn't think I'd need it and now I can't find it. If anyone can shine some light on how to do this. That would be great.

Do you mean like "Have XFire start when Windiows starts?" Because you can set that with a prgoram called 'autoruns' or there might be an option within the program itself.

Thanks, I think autoruns did the trick.

I'll edit back once I found out.

<edit>Well it shows what programs are on Boot Execute but I don't know how to choose certain programs to load on Boot Execute.

Start>Run>'msconfig'

Click on the 'Startup' tab. Check or uncheck the programs you want to run, or not run.
Be careful though. Make sure required programs still load when they need to.

Also, if you have a program that you want to load at startup, but doesn't have a startup registry print, you can make it load via Windows Scheduled Tasks.

Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Scheduled Tasks

Just follow the on-screen prompts and you will be good to go in no time.

I did that along time ago. I mean the programs actually load before you log onto the account. I dropped it for now, it wasn't much use after all. =X

Using Windows Scheduled Tasks you can make programs load at boot, at log on, or after a specified period of the time after the computer starts.

Take a look, it may be what you need.
