Maker Faire
I had an awesome day today, I went to the Maker Faire down in San Mateo California. The Maker Faire was a convention put up by the people who do the magazine Make: Technology On Your Time. It is a magazine where people send in little gadgets and stuff that they have hacked to make do cool stuff, so basically this convention was geek heaven. There were all kinds of awesome inventions from giant potato guns, a fire truck that shoots fire, the robots from assorted world robot fight championships, and a steam powered bike. There were all sorts of 'geek celebrities' there as well. I saw Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple) who was there as a player on the USA Segway Polo team (can you get any geekier?), Kevin Rose who was on G4/TechTV and now does assorted podcasts/videocasts, and Bunnie, the guy who originally hacked the Xbox and made modchips possible. All in all it was an awesome day, and made me fully realize the power of nerds when they get bored.
