I would have changed mine regardless of whether MoDFox's comment had taken place here or any other thread. I don't view my avatar as reflecting my attitude, I think of it as something I find as amusing or interesting.

Honestly why debate something that has no real meaning... I mean I love the Internet as much as the next guy... but discussing the matter of how my avatar may or may not effect how people view my post... just seems... pointless.

Do Avatars have any correlation to oneself? Perhaps. But I wouldn't use an image on a forums to base how someone's personality is. Should I assume that your personality could be in the same field as a constipated looking Chihuahua/Gremlin hybrid thing? Should All my posts be read differently because I have an "OBEY" Avatar? If so, How so? There's nothing to debate, to be honest. If you think an Avatar could be some kind of generalization about the poster, then something's twisted.

You're using selective logic. You're saying "Well, I can't account for those cases, so you can't bring them up." Did you ever consider that when the vast majority of your readers consider you to be completely wrong and arrogant with your claims about this matter, that maybe they're on to something?

Get over yourself. It's a gross overgeneralization and to categorize it as any legitimate discussion topic with any validity, whilst having no evidence whatsoever, is, as previously mentioned, arrogant. You think you are right and you just keep rambling with the same thing over and over when you're confronted about it. I hope you know that you successfully started a discussion that immediately went down the drain and now has no chance of resurrecting itself and will only continue to serve as a nonsensical argument until finally someone says something that crosses a line.

It's very simple really: you just cannot over-analyze it.

The image in your avatar, if it contains an expression, or feeling in it (usually in the form of a face) it can subconsciously affect the readers perception on your tone of voice. The tone of voice I speak of is the tone in which we read the text, our minds put that there, not some magic Internet god.

Thats the easiest part of this to grasp: the other part is the affect of your avatar on yourself.

You may eventually start to think in a similar manor to you avatar if you often re-read your own posts. Again, subconsciously taking on the personality of your avatar.

The tone of the damn text conveys a hell of a lot more than the damn avatar. You type what you want to say, and that is what is conveyed. Your avatar does not contain a message, it barely contains an emotion. If people are utilizing an avatar as a means to read a post then they are stupid.

Christ this whole argument is idiotic.
