I read about this about a year ago. It's possible that the guy who sent the P-P-P-Powerbook was caught in a legal backfire he didn't expect. Because of his actions, a person was defrauded around $300 in an easilly traceable (and already recored) manner. He could be in jail right now.
The other option is that this whole thing is just another joke started by some random prankster.
