just imagine ctf in sidewinder. round starts. everyone starts with plasma grenades. it takes like about 1 min and 30 secs to blow. u run to a hog and ur buddy drives. u and the rest of the team shoot a bunch of plasma grenades on him and he races to the other base. then when he gets there he blows and everyone on their team dies. they u and the rest come after in your own hog grab the flag and hit it back to base . hehe

Whenever I think of it, it reminds me of that scene at Helms' Deep in the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, where that Orc guy runs in carrying the torch and Legolas tries in vain to take him down before he blows up the wall. I like the changing colors idea, though, too. So have a minute thirty fuse that changes colors. That would be cool.
