Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

Can't get texture mapped correctly to base(3ds7)

Post by babelfish »

Hi.
I'm working on a map and I need help badly.
I just made my awsome base and when I assign the metal to it(example_tutorial_plates.tiff)the outside looks great but the inside looks like it's been stretched and sat on by that fat kid down the street...also, any parts of the base I'd edited(like tessalated or moved) does the same thing to the texture. Please tell me what I need to do. Oh yeah one more thing. I think I already know the answer to this but here is my question. My camera is SO SLOW now. I think it's because of all the stuff I have in my map, but I just want to be sure. What do you think of this? Please respond I only have a 1 year 3ds Max 7 :x

I tried adding a UVW Map but I didn't know where to go after
Uhh....I could get a picture if you want. I'd also appreciate help with my map.
It's my second one. Also the level itself is 25000x25000x2500(I think).
My map is called Spark and if you help me out I'll tell you why
Again I'm using 3ds Max 7 student 1 year liscense so time is a factor(only used 3 days though  )
Thanks!

Well just apply an uvw map and choose box. Then right-click convert to ediable mesh. And then go to face selection mode and highlight the faces you dislike and then do the same uvwmap stuff again. You can also use the tile feature.

Well Patrick I'm not gonna try that right now since I have to go but I will.
I havn't tried your idea yet and it sounds really good :) Thanks.
I don't know what "tile feature" is but I'll probably find it.
Thanks for all the help guys.

Tile feature mean if the texture is too large you can tile it.It will set the txture next to each other like a mosaik.
